[Bay's] best film since The Rock.. This mixture of sci-fi musing and crash-and-burn chaos packs a wallop only when metal crashes against metal.. Neither the dramatic nor action elements are remotely compelling.. Sadly, the talents of an impressive cast far outstrip the tedious material they're given.. Once upon a time, filmmakers had the luxury of giving their genre movies time to breathe; you don't see much of that on a big scale any more. I loved this movie, warts and all.. Made for ironicists...
